New work

I always forget to update this blog! How could I?

Where will I start with?
I'm lately having it really busy with school, my new boyfriend, my website...
Tomorrow and the day after, I have exams. so I really should study right now!
I also have been drawing a lot lately at school. I am also working on my website, where I'm uploading my new art, and deleting all the unnecessary old things.

Now I have exams, I'm also verry inspired to make jewellery. I made myself a new necklace + 2 pairs of earringns. here is already a picture of the necklace with one pair of the earrings:

I will take later a better picture with everything when I'm wearing it, but I'm lazy right now.

I also have been sick yesterday, so I couldn't study. now I'm going a bit better. hopefully I can do my exams, and study a bit of it. And everything just seems to be much more interesting then studying.

I see that it has almost been 3 months ago that I updated the blog! Goddamned that's long!
There has been changed quite a lot, that's why I haven't updated the blog.
But i have a lot to show to you! But with what to start? Drawings or jewellery?

I'll start with some drawings. and when I have some time, I'll take some pictures of some more school work (but it's at school right now)

These drawings where from school (but I have quite a lot more!)
The next drawings/paintings are things I made at home for myself

Collars and chokers

I made again some new things

But I'm a bit under stress..
soon school starts. I don't know what theme to use for the first semester. I thought about abandoned buildings, but I'm always afraid to visit them. And my boyfriend doesn't likes them. I don't like going alone. I also haven't drawn much in the holidays (I don't know why). I'm a bit afraid of the whole school stress thing again : Being afraid to fail. As always
But Also next week it's an exhibition in Vlekkem, and it's on my birthday, september the 17th. I guess it's going to be a quite boring birthday, since an exhibition is sitting the whole day on your chair (no two days!). I'm doubting if i'm going to take my jewelery aswell, but the people there aren't interested in goth. And chokers are really nothing for there + they are made to your measurement.
Maybe I could make painted brooches in place! But what to paint on it? It may not be too gothic for the normal people (read no singers from the goth scene)
I also haven't any new paintings. Only one and I'm not sure if I really like it.

I really feel shitty again. And I hate it. I want to be proud of myself, and not point out always those mistakes! I can never do something good enough for myself.

For the new chokers and collars. The first I made is a tulle collar. At some places, it's not the best stitched (the fabric was really annoying). I have again the feeling that it is not good enough. What do you think? I like the idea though. It's better then my previous one, which will be posted bellow.

Ps, sorry for the baaaaad picture
Edit: here is a better and newer one:

I also did some line art make-up today! Should do this more!

And this was the first try. kept this one for myself as it isn't that interesting.

I also made a steampunk choker

I'm also working on a commission for a girl who wanted an EA inspired choker + earrings! I really enjoy making this. I'll make a post about this later, when it's finished.

I am also working on a painting! Next week (17-18th sept) I have an exhibtion in Vlekkem!

Rings!

I made two rings today! I have only ordered 4 ring bases, so I won't make more for this time. Two bronze ones, the ones I already finished, and two black ones to make something from fimo on it

I still have to make some new chokers

I also won a piece of jewelery from Jessica Jolly. She is doing a new contest aswell for this month! Join aswell and maybe you win something aswell. More information on her Deviantart.

Some new jewellery

As you see, I really suck at titles. They are boring, but well, you know about what the new blog will be ;-)

After some time now knowing what to make, and feeling shitty because nothing seemed to work, I started making some things again. I also got new supplies. And new supplies means (a bit) more inspiration. I mainly made some earrings. but there are some other things to come aswell. I really should make chokers again, since these are the most interesting (in my opinion). The earrings are more simple.

A simple pair of angel earrings.

Tea time earrings! I think i like this. the fimo bead is handmade btw.

Handmade steampunk hearts earrings! They are made from fimo, like my other steampunk hearts, but they are smaller. I made pair of them for myself aswell. You can see me wearring them in the next photo

I also made two of these heart pendants for a friend aswell. They seem to be popular.

I am also going to make the above earrings in black-silver aswell

And i almost forgot my unicornhorn earrrings! They are in broken white with a bit of glitter (fimo effects)

I also made some chokers last weeks:

Collar failed

The collar didn't came out as how I wanted it to be :(

I had a great idea in my mind, and I really thought it would work. but now I see the finished result, it really sucks!
The fabric was really a bitch to drag, but also to hem. The overlock looked shit, so I had to hide it, so I stitched a black ribbon over it, which made it really.. Suck.
Maybe some ruffles (in lace or tulle. tulle is cheaper for when I mess it up once again) would make it better, though I'm afraid it will wrinkle in the same bad way as it does now. If someone could help me out. It's really not sellable now. Anyway I was going to keep it for myself. But I want it to be better when I want to sell ever some of these.
Here are some photos. Sorry for the flash and bad lightening, it's evening and we have only orangish lights.

At daylight. I lay it good to look good

Evening photo, where I didn't lay it good to make it look good. I just lay it as how it is. The ribbon turns around in every direction. It drives me crazy! Maybe the ribbion is too stiff, however I don't think that any ribbon is super limp.

Maybe I should add roses to make it more interesting. but that doesn't solve my problem.

Collars

I really wanted to make the neckcorset (see previous blog) in lace. Now it seems that my plastic bones (I don't know where to find others) are too big for this. They are more then a centimeter whide. I'm not sure if this will work out, as I wanted to sew ribbon over it to hide them. So this is something to think about.

I'm also going to try something other today: collars. It's going to be in black-purple lace. Here is an example of the fabric:

I also made some chokers, but these are for later ;-)

And I'm also going to make some art brooches (hand painted ones)!

Neckcorset tryout!

Yesterday I was looking around on the net for some inspiration on chokers. My eyes fell on neck corsets! I knew I had somewhere a pattern of this, so I wanted to try it out.
I made a mock up of it in white fabric. It isn't well cut and well stitched, and I almost killed my machine! I hate that bitch!
I want to make now a beautiful version of it in lace. But I'm a bit stuck with the boning. I don't know how to do the boning channels. I'm going to work with (sew on)plastic though. I don't have metal + I think it's quite stiff for the neck. It's also not mean to be a real corset, but more something like a choker, but with more the style of a neck corset and a collar.

Finished the heart necklace

Yes, the heart necklace is finished!
The hearts seem to be popular, I think I'm going to make more of these, or other steampunkish things with fimo and cogs, but other forms (not sure what yet)
And now the sales are going a bit better, I feel more motivated to make new things. I can't have an empty store, isn't it? And i'm more sure that my jewels will be (ever) sold.
I'm also thinking about working with paypall, so I can accept orders from non-euro countries aswell, but I still don't get it completely. I'm going to ask a bit around first!

Wip Commission

Laura commissioned me to make a steampunk heart necklace. She wanted it to be a bit bigger then the hairclips I make. It's +- 5cm. You can compare it with the hairclip laying next to it.
It's ready for baking now. After the baking, the painting starts. I also had to use some bigger clock parts. Now I must see that I don't bake it to hot! I don't want to be poisoned by fimo again.

Here is the heart, waiting to be put in be put in the oven. That's what I'm going to do now. I really should stop starting to work at night, while being lazy at day!

I also made a new necklace today. It's verry little and elegant.

Locker necklace

I made a new necklace. In the locker, there must come a little drawing or painting. It will be a rose or a castle, but I'm not sure yet.
But I'm not sure about the necklace itself. What do you think? My main problem are the wings. When one thing doesn't hang how it should hang, everything hangs wrong.

Materials arrived + new earrings!

Finally I got my material!
I made some new earrings. This pair is up for sale now:

I also made another pair, but I think I'm going to put them in a set, because they are not that big.

I also featured many great jewellery in my journal on Deviantart. Take a look at those great inspirations! Journal

Update?

I totally forgot to update!

My jewellery supplies haven't arrived yet. It drives me crazy, only a part of it arrived, which I find verry verry strange!

Meanwhile, I made a commission for Tasja and a pair of earrings, which is already sold to a friend.

I also made two drawings,

A commission:

(and blogger is really messing up the quality, so view the larger image by clicking!)

And one drawing for myself. It's an abandoned factory. The photo is taken by Marco-art
This is also the subject I want to work around next year at school. I love the atmosphere of abandoned buildings. But I'm a bit afraid to go in. Not ecause it will fall on my head, but because I will get caught by police, or I would find there junkies.. That idea scares me a bit. So I think I won't draw from life, but from (selfmade) photos.

I also find my way back to blending and collage making, which I'm not going to show here. Why? Because I can make a lot of them, and for those who don't know much about it, it's not really interesing. I joined a forum called RE-creation, there I post my work. Now I really feel like making websites aswell, but I can't change mine all the time. I changed one of my free download layouts on my website. I'm quite happy with the outcome. You can view and download it here

Clockwork necklace

This week I made a new necklace, but I totally forgot to blog about it.
It's made from an old pocketwatch, with some things glued on (like the rose). I also added a clockhand. The cool thing about is that you can still rotate it by pushing the top button (where I don't know the name about) and rotating it.

I also ordered some new materials. I want to make earrings! I hope they arrive soon.
Most of the earrings will be steampunk and gothic inspired.

And I made a part on my website for my jewelery:
http://theblackcatdesigns.artparadise.be

In adittion my website is a bit updated.

Next week I'm going to start drawing again. It has already been a month ago! (with the exception of the painted hairclips)

If I were a rich girl...

First of all, I'm going to nag a bit about being bored.
Because my parents got home from their holiday, I got to clean up the whole house. My jewelery supplies where laying everywhere. Because my mother is a clean freak, I'm afraid to lay something on the ground to work on (yes, I always work on the floor!) or she will say that I have to clean it up because she can't pass. Blegh!
I'm also a bit in need of new materials, but since I spend already a lot on it, I can't buy anything new yet :(
I'd love to make a real website with my jewelery on, but I think I'm not ready for it yet. I need more things first.

I really hate all the money thing. I wish I could win euromilions. And if I did, i would know immediately what kind of house I want and how to design the interior of it!
I would buy a little mansion, or a little castle, that would be full of antique furniture! I found already my choice on http://www.houtroos.com/. I think I just can't afford it, since a closed will probably 1000-2000euro and more... And I didn't even talk about the mansion yet.

For giving an example of how I want it: Kato's (steampunkcouture.com) house looks great! It has also a bit of a steampunk influence. I especially love the reddish walls and the great curtains, which she made herself.

Another steampunk home which looks very curious to me is this one:
http://steampunkworkshop.com/visit-steampunked-home
That man has some great ideas, especially for covering the new technologie in a more antique home (the tv and dvdplayer in the stove)

Back to the furnishing of Houtroos, I really want a bedroom like this:

They are both not put together, that's why it doesn't really looks like a bedroom. I went there once for looking for a new bedroom, but they where all too big because I live under the roof :(

And when I can find somewhere a cheap second hand lamp, I would definitely transform it in something like this:

Bronze fimo bones

I have a nice technique that I use for making my fimo sculptures. I love the bronze effect they get. I made some new bones in black fimo. I plan on making more of these. Maybe I should try making them in broken white aswell, so they look more real? I also want to learn to make skulls, but they are really difficult! I think I need to practice a little more.

I also made some other bronzed fimo sculptures for accessoires (which I let too long in the oven: result strange back and a baaaad smell. I hope it isn't toxic.

Emilie Autumn hairclips

I finished the Emilie Autumn hairclips!

The biggest one is 11cm at the widest point, and the smaller one 9.5cm.
I wished I could turn the biggest one into a brooch, that would be lovely. But I don't have a brooch pin :(

I made already a EA painted hairclip for myself before:

Now I'm backing some fimo black bones! So my next blog will be about fimo creations!

Hey everyone!

I have this account already for a while, but I actually never used it.
First I'm going to say something about myself:
I am Natascha, 18 years old and born in Belgium.
I love drawing and painting, crafting and making clothing, photographing,...
I think I'm going to use this blog to show you the latest things I'm working on.

i'm going to start with this: 2 handpainted Emilie Autumn hairclips; I'm waiting to let them dry, then I'm going to varnish them, add some ruffles and put a clip on it to put in your hair!
They are actualy verry small paintings (5cm or something?)

I'm also working on a clockwork choker. I think I'm going to add some small laces, and probably some cogs I think. Or maybe yellow-orangish seed beads. Or maybe blue?
It's already laying here for two days. I don't dare to begin with it, because I don't know what size to take since it is for selling. I really have to order ribbon clasps, but since I've spend already a lot of money on jewellery supplies, I have to wait until I have gained some money to buy the new supplies.

Yesterday I also made my first mini top hat (and it really is mini!)
I used this tutorial as a guide.

I sell some of my selfmade things on The Black Cat Designs

I have also a facebook page for my drawings: Natascha's Art

And I have also a Deviantart account which I update frequently: xNatje.deviantart.com

And I have also, last but not least, a website: www.artparadise.be

I hope I can update this blog from time to time, and to keep it interesting enough for you to take a look at it.
